Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a located in the southeast corner of Queensland, Australia. It is the second most populous city in the state and the sixth most populous city in the country. Gold Coast City is renowned for its sunny subtropical climate, popular surfing beaches, expansive waterway and canal systems, a skyline dominated by high-rise apartment buildings, active nightlife and wide variety of tourist attractions.

Getting to the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast airport is located at Coolangatta, a 15 minute drive by bus or taxi from Q1, the conference venue.  There are only limited direct international flights to the Gold Coast (via Kuala Lumpur, Osaka or Tokyo) but you can fly to the Gold Coast via one of Australia's major airports,  Brisbane (closest), Sydney or Melbourne.  Most international carriers tend to use one of these three Australian airports (Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne).  

An alternative is to fly to Brisbane and then get a bus or train from the airport direct to the Gold Coast (about a one hour trip).  For more information about the relevant Australian airports and their services:

The Gold Coast has a sub-tropical climate with plenty of sunshine year round (in fact an average of 300 days a year). Temperatures range from 12-23 degrees Celsius (55-72 degrees Fahrenheit) so lightweight clothing is best with a jacket for the cooler evenings.
