Important Information on Visas for Overseas Delegates

Australian Visa Requirements and Processes

The appropriate visa for delegates

People seeking to attend, or participate in, a conference or event in Australia should, in most cases, apply for a short stay business visitor visa (subclass 456).

Those who are able to obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) may obtain either a short or long-validity short-stay business ETA.

For more information on the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs' Electronic Travel Authority system, please consult Fact Sheet 54 - The Electronic Travel Authority or visit http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/

Waiting period for visa applications for NON ETA Travellers

Due to current international crises, processing of short stay business visas can take up to three months. It is vital that you commence your application as early as possible. You will find attached information on basic requirements for visa applications which include a letter of confirmation of attendance at the conference.

Support Documentation - Invitation to Attend/Confirmation of Registration

If you are not able to obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), you will require either an invitation to attend the conference (if you are a speaker) or a confirmation of your registration. Please contact Caryn Morgan immediately to obtain the correct supporting document.

Caryn will require your passport number & country on your passport, Australian consulate address (where you are applying for your visa) and your intended arrival and departure dates.

Information for non-ETA delegates here.

Information for invited speakers who are non-ETA here.
